Vic & Jo

Founders

Jo's journey started in 1986 when she experienced an overwhelming sense of love, peace, and joy through the presence of the Holy Spirit—an encounter that changed her life forever.

As she grew in her relationship with God, Jo discovered her calling to minister to people from all walks of life.  Her gift for connecting deeply with others—whether rich or poor—enabled her to speak life and hope into countless situations.  She became involved in various ministries, faithfully serving wherever God led her.  However, due to shifts in her family dynamics, Jo paused ministry work.

Despite this pause, the calling on Jo's life never faded.  She prayed for God’s perfect timing and believed that when the time came, He would bring a spiritually equal partner who would walk alongside her in ministry who would support and strengthen her.  That prayer was answered when Vic entered her life.

From the start, Vic recognized the gifts God had placed within Jo and encouraged her to embrace them fully.  Together, their relationship naturally flowed into ministry.  What began as small acts of service grew into a shared vision.  After a year of prayer and planning, they laid the foundation for what would become Damascus Road Ministries.  When Vic met Jo he was retired and also had a heart for ministry.   He was already involved individually in the homeless ministry in the heart of the nations capital.  Vic recalls many days and nights seeking God for guidance as he patiently waited for the perfect partner to do ministry with.  Vic is a Retired colonel of the U.S. Army, attorney, justice advocate, and an officer in a charitable non-profit foundation.  In those capacities, Vic has experienced many walks of life and understands that one person can make a difference in someone's life.

Today, Damascus Road Ministry exists to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, fulfilling the call to make disciples.  Jo and Vic's mission is to empower individuals—from Christians struggling to overcome life’s challenges to those who have never heard the name of Jesus. Their work spans from local streets to wherever the Holy Spirit leads, reflecting their heart for transformation, encouragement, and surrender to God’s will.

Through their ministry, Jo and Vic aim to inspire freedom, victory, and a deeper relationship with Christ in the lives of everyone they serve.  Both Vic and Jo understand the calling of ministry is OUTWARD not INWARD and both understand the goal is to make disciples in Jesus' name.
